UNICOM Systems, Inc. acquires SoftLanding Systems

MISSION HILLS, CA – October 25, 2006 – UNICOM® Systems, Inc., global leader in CICS system management solutions, today announces the September 28, 2006 acquisition of System i-based change management vendor SoftLanding Systems, Inc. for an undisclosed amount.

The purchase represents UNICOM 's expansion into the System i market. UNICOM will work with SoftLanding to develop international markets and further invest in application lifecycle management technology to bring greater efficiency to bear within customers' IT departments.

"We see many similarities between the mainframe and midrange markets," says Corry Hong, President and CEO of UNICOM. "We understand the stability and longevity OS/400 will enjoy, and see many opportunities for growth. We were very impressed by SoftLanding's technology, particularly their Eclipse-based work. We look forward to bringing our experience and financial fortitude to bear in helping SoftLanding increase its dominance in the application lifecycle management sector."

Hong credits UNICOM's past success to its focus on delivering value and reliability through quality products, support, and services, and believes that this business model transcends markets and technologies. "Our strategy is to expand UNICOM by applying this successful model to new markets. We were looking for a stable company in the System i market with proven growth potential, good management infrastructure, and dedication to its existing customer base. We found that in SoftLanding."

Steve Gapp, President and CEO of SoftLanding, enthusiastically embraces Hong's vision. "We're excited by the new opportunities UNICOM brings to SoftLanding and its customer base. Corry's energy and creative business ideas have already opened our eyes to new possibilities for increasing the value we offer the System i market. In an environment where small ISVs are being subsumed by larger players, we focused on finding a partner who shared our philosophy and believed in our business practices. SoftLanding will continue to innovate with the guidance and experience of a like-minded company that appreciates the strengths and virtues of the System i market."

SoftLanding will continue to operate from Peterborough, NH. UNICOM will continue to aggressively pursue new opportunities in the mainframe market out of its headquarters in Mission Hills, CA. Under the new arrangement, UNICOM will assume certain administrative and financial duties associated with ongoing maintenance of SoftLanding's products.
